BC Winter Games
The purpose of the BC Games can be captured in a single phrase: "To provide an opportunity for the development of athletes, coaches, and officials in preparation for higher levels of competition in a multi-sport event which promotes interest and participation in sport and sporting activities, individual achievement, and community development." Since 1978, the BC Games Society has been staging the BC Summer and BC Winter Games. These two events are British Columbia’s largest multi-sport events. In order to ensure that the BC Summer and BC Winter Games include participants from every part of the Province, as well as to motivate each Provincial Sport Organization to spread their efforts and interest throughout the Province, the Province has been divided into eight Zones. The boundaries of the BC Games Zones are described below. Kootenays (Zone 1)
Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2)
Fraser Valley (Zone 3)
Fraser River-Delta (Zone 4)
Vancouver-Squamish (Zone 5)
Vancouver Island-Central Coast (Zone 6)
North West (Zone 7)
Cariboo-North East (Zone 8)

Kimberley - Cranbrook 2008 BC Winter Games
February 21 - 24, 2008
More than 2,500 participants bring the cold temperatures to a boil in a collective, annual celebration of winter and of sport.
These Games give young, developing athletes the opportunity to improve their skills on their way to higher levels of competition and to deal with the excitement, triumphs and defeats of participating in a major multi-sport event.
The spirit of winter and sport are alive and well at the BC Winter Games.
The first question that many potential competitors have is what are the criteria to be eligible to participate in the games. The answer to this question is best found on the "Your Sport" page within the particular sport that the competitor is interested in. The Sport Package for the 2008 BC Winter Games in Kimberley/Cranbrook can be found here.
