GENERAL

Ringette, like any sport, is governed by a set of playing rules. Ringette is a fast moving game emphasizing no intentional body contact. Thus, the stress is on fun, safety, participation, and team play.

Codes for Players
Ringette players participate in the game of ringette using a set of unwritten rules called the "Code of Ringette".

The code stresses several basic principles:

  • ensuring the well being of every person involved in the sport
  • ensuring mass participation and the opportunity for all to play in a fun atmosphere
  • retaining the aspect of winter team sport with no intentional body contact
  • giving players the option of recreational or competitive level play
  • maintaining a high standard of safety while retaining a low cost of participation
  • fostering the development of players, coaches, and officials
  • maintaining player input into the administration of sport
  • ensuring the promotion of goodwill and friendship.
