Sponsorship Policy
(Adopted by PGRA Board June 2004)

Information for Coaches’ and Team Managers

Team Sponsorship – PGRA actively solicits local businesses by seeking opportunities for sponsorship of the association and teams. PGRA offers various levels of sponsorship that are offered with various levels of value and even exclusivity and can make information packages available to interested sponsors. The Director of Sponsorship is primarily responsible for obtaining formal sponsorship for PGRA and assigning team sponsors.

It is an ongoing challenge each year to maintain current sponsorship levels or increase sponsorship levels to meet growing demands and as such association members are encouraged to develop sponsorship leads and contacts and provide them to the Director of Sponsorship or another member of the PGRA executive. The Director of Sponsorship or their designate will follow up with the prospect. Under no circumstances are association members permitted to grant official team sponsorship status to a prospect.

Shortly after the beginning of the season, each team is advised who their team sponsor is (if they have one) and PGRA provides sponsor name bars to be sewed on the shoulders of the team jerseys. NOTE: player name bars should be sewed on below the number on the back of the jersey.

Team Coach’s or Manager’s may contact the sponsor as part of additional fund raising towards team uniforms, jackets and hoodies but sponsor’s are under no obligation to provide additional funds. Teams may obtain funds from other businesses towards such items but that does not make that business an official team sponsor.

Platinum Sponsorship (exclusive team sponsorship) entitles the sponsored team up to $500.00 towards team uniforms, jackets or hoodies only. The team Coach or Manager must submit a request in writing to the PGRA executive Treasurer requesting release of the $500 to the team and indicating the purpose for which the funds will be utilized. This amount must be used during the current season and cannot be carried forward into next season.

Gold, Silver and Friends of Ringette Sponsorship levels do not provide funds for teams to use towards uniforms, jackets or hoodies. Teams must undertake their own fund raising activities for these things or purchase them at full cost. Sponsorship at these levels is not exclusive so it is possible for a team to acquire two official team sponsors. The Association Sponsorship Director must be involved in making this decision. Arrangements would need to be made to ensure sponsors bars for the jerseys reflect double sponsorship. This can be done by either combining both sponsors onto a single sponsor bar or dividing the team such that half wear Sponsor A and half wear Sponsor B. Always remember when reporting game results to media to mention both names EG: The Triton Welding/ PG Cabs Petite A team defeated…..

Coach’s or Manager’s responsibilities

All teams should make sure that they have contact information and do advise the various media of the results of team results from tournaments. The team references must include the sponsors name EG: “ The Panago Tween B Terminators won Gold at the Hinton Ringette Tournament this past week-end.” This is part of the value that we wish to provide our sponsors and which we hope will allow us to keep them as sponsors for years to come.

The Director of Publicity will provide each head coach with a list of media contacts and their preferred publication requirements.

Team Fund Raising

Teams may find that they need to do fund raising for various reasons. This could include bottle drives or soliciting donations from local businesses. PGRA can also benefit from those activities. By turning your fund raising monies over to PGRA and asking businesses making a cash donation to your team to issue the cheque payable to PGRA, PGRA can account for those monies as fund raising. (This is an important criteria when PGRA applies each year for Gaming Funds.) The treasurer would then issue a cheque back in the same amount to the teams Coach or Manager or to a local business to pay towards jackets for example.

Any teams looking to fund raise are asked to contact the Association Sponsorship Director or Treasurer with respect to this process.
