The Community Torch Celebration, sponsored by the Spirit Committee of Prince George, took place at CN Centre on February 26th 2006. This event showcased our wonderful community’s athletes, volunteer sectors, multicultural heritage, arts and cultural organizations and much more. The day began with a live broadcast of the Gold medal men’s hockey game in Torino and highlighted the Closing Ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games when the Torch was handed to the Vancouver Mayor and the world’s eyes turn to BC.

As a community, we want to celebrate this connection to the Winter Olympics as in 4 year’s time Prince George will be one of the Torch Relay’s last stops on its way to Whistler in 2010.
As part of the celebration, ringette was showcased during a 20 minute period at CN Centre.
